Description
This vintage cup and saucer for tea or coffee belongs to the celebrated “Cobalt Net” collection, one of the most recognisable designs in decorative art. The set has the iconic “Tulip” shape. The pattern was designed in 1944 by artist Anna Yatskevich, drawing on the aesthetics of eighteenth-century imperial tableware, and produced by the renowned Imperial Porcelain Factory in St Petersburg. Against fine, resonant white porcelain, a rhythmic geometric net is painted by hand. Its intersections are adorned with hand-applied 22-carat gold crosses, complemented by delicate undulating details along the rims. Deep cobalt blue and gleaming gold lend the set a distinctly aristocratic presence.
The cup and saucer are in very good vintage condition. The glossy glaze has no cracks, scratches or signs of use, and the gilding remains even and vivid. The set would be an elegant addition to a home or a distinctive gift.
Cup capacity: approximately 120 ml.
