Description
This vintage hand-painted porcelain figure of a young man in traditional dress was made by the Hungarian porcelain house Hollóháza in the second half of the twentieth century. It portrays a boy from the Matyó region, celebrated for richly coloured floral embroidery. The fitted black waistcoat, broad embroidered sleeves, white apron and tall black hat with a floral accent bring that tradition to the porcelain surface. Hollóháza’s history dates to 1777, and this glossy-glazed figure combines folk character with graceful mid-century design.
The sculpture is in impeccable vintage condition. The white porcelain has no cracks or chips, while the colourful floral decoration remains bright and well defined. It would make a distinctive decorative accent or gift.
Height: approximately 30 cm.
