Description

This luxurious vintage porcelain vase with two graceful handles was made by the Hungarian manufactory Herend and belongs to its celebrated “Apponyi Green” series. Its amphora-like silhouette and ribbon-shaped handles are accented with hand-applied 24-carat gilding, as are the upper and lower rims. Rich green flowers and foliage, painted by hand around the body and neck, contrast with the fine white porcelain. Herend has been renowned for its craftsmanship since 1826. This pattern was developed in 1930 when East Asian-inspired motifs were simplified for the Hungarian Count Albert Apponyi.

The vase is in impeccable vintage condition. The glaze remains lustrous, while the gilding and green decoration are vivid, even and unworn. It can be displayed as a sculptural object in its own right or with a floral arrangement.

Height: approximately 33 cm.
